Yorker impresses in return

Former South Africa champion Yorker (Jet Master) made an impressive return to the racetrack on Saturday, when finishing second to Scottish (Teofilo) in the Gr3 Betfred Mobile Strensall Stakes at York.

The former Equus Champion was making his first racecourse appearance (and first British appearance) in over 800m days and flashed up late for second behind the Charlie Appleby trained winner.
Scottish, who could now be aimed at the Gr1 Caulfield Cup in Australia, had previously finished second to subsequent Gr1 King George winner Highland Reel (Galileo) in the Gr3 Neptune Investment Management Gordon Stakes and won the Listed Steventon Stakes.

To date, the gelded Scottish has won four times, with his victories also including the Listed Doonside Cup.

Yorker, whose trio of Grade One wins included the Sansui Summer Cup, holds entries in the Gr2 Clipper Logistics Boomerang Stakes (on September 10th) and in the Gr1 Qipco Champion Stakes, which will be run on October 15th at Ascot.

One of 22 Grade One winners sired by seven times champion sire Jet Master, Yorker is one of four winners produced by Al Mufti’s Listed Syringa Handicap runner up Little Indian.
