Grade 1 success for Japan in Korea

Japan dominated the Keeneland Korea Cup over 1800m at Seoul's Let's Run Park this afternoon.

The one-two Japanese invasion was headed by the meritorious winner, Chrysolite. The Japanese contenders were always in touch with the pace and they were closed monitored by Power Blade, the Korean Triple Crown winner who was just in front of the favoured Infantry with the British raider Solar Deity in mid division on the rail. South African bred, Need To Know was making up ground down the back stretch as well.

However by the final turn the race was between the Japanese pair who stole a march and strode many lengths clear in a two horse battle. Kurino Star O was just ahead of Chrysolite but that was the last he saw of the front as the powerful Japanese runner sped past his countryman to stride to a commanding victory. The margin was six lengths for the race favourite. Kurino Star O was a further 10 lengths in front of Triple Nine. Power Blade was next best.

South African bred Need To Know finished last.
