BLUE BLOODED REDOUTE’S CHOICE COLT WINS ON DEBUT

The regally bred Al Fahad made an impressive winning debut for owner Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Vaal racecourse on Tuesday.
Trained by Mike De Kock, Al Fahad held off a late challenge from another well bred first-timer, Doosra (Captain Al –Caughtintheslips) to win the 1200m maiden plate by a long head.

Bred in Australia, the three-year-old colt is by a champion sire out of a daughter of another former Australian champion.

Al Fahad is a son of triple Australian Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) –whose offspring have enjoyed so much success in South Africa.
Major South African stars sired by the Arrowfield Stud based sire include the Equus Champions Majmu and Musir, as well as dual Gr1 winner Wylie Hall, who is now standing at the Cheveley Stud.

Al Fahad’s Zabeel sired dam Albakoor is a placed half sister to 5 winners including Rewaaya (Singspiel), whose five wins (up to 1400m) included the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. Albakoor’s stakes placed dam Nasmah (At Talaq) is also dam of the stakes placed Bedrah, who, like Al Fahad, is by Redoute’s Choice.

Al Fahad’s third dam is Listed MVC William Crockett Stakes winner Asawir (Last Tycoon) –whose numerous high class descendants included the talented Mike de Kock trained runners Mushreq (Flying Spur) and Ertijaal (Hard Spun), with the latter having lifted the 2015 Gr1 Investec Cape Derby before going on to campaign in Dubai.

This is also the family of G1 winning sprinter and top class Australian sire Snippets (Lunchtime).
