The plum ride on Champion South African mare Smart Call has been confirmed by Jessica Slack, the owner of the wonder mare. However there are visa issues to finalise. 

"I can only confirm the rider on Smart Call in The UK race on 1st of October. Frankie (Dettori) who has been riding her is unable to take the ride due to stable commitments (which he had always said he might have), and Anthony Delpech has kindly said he will ride her for us. He does not have his visa yet, but we are hopeful and will only know for sure on Tuesday next week," Slack told SAHorseracing.COM. 

"We will not be confirming Smart Calls jockey for the Breeders Cup fillies and Mares race until closer to the time. Frankie Dettori has been so helpful and kind in working Smart Call in Newmarket and he has first option on her if he is available.

"We will be thrilled if Anthony (Delpech) gets his visa and can come for the UK race on the 1st of October. Ant is a superb jockey and not only would we be lucky to have him ride Smart Call, we also know that he will take good care of our girl in the race.

Slack also commented on the form of the mare and her well being. 

"Smart Call seems in great form and we are excited for her first run back but she has not run since January and has been in quarantine and traveling for 4 months this year, we cannot underestimate the toll that might have taken. Obviously we hope she runs a great race but her well being is our main priority."
