DUBAWI COLT TOPS GOFFS SALE

A son of Darley’s outstanding sire Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) was the sales’ topper at the 2016 Goffs’ Orby Sale, which concluded in Ireland yesterday.
Consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment and forming part of the Wildenstein Dispersal, the handsome bay was knocked down to John Ferguson for €1 400 000 – no less than €600 000 cheaper than last year’s Orby topper.

Out of Gr1 Poule D’Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) winner Beauty Parlour (Deep Impact), the bay’s stakes winning second dam Bastet (Giant’s Causeway) is a half sister to Australian champion and Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Might And Power (Zabeel).

Successful buyer John Ferguson, said of the colt, “He's a lovely horse with a great pedigree - you know the rest!”

A full sister to Gr1 winner Together Forever was Orby’s top priced filly –with that Galileo daughter fetching €900 000 to the bid of MV Magnier.

Turnover at the 2016 Orby Sale rose narrowly by 3% with the sale ending with an aggregate of €39 925 000.

Prominent South African bloodstock agent Jehan Malherbe was very active at the Orby Sale. Malherbe purchased no fewer than 11 lots for an aggregate of €2 140 000.
Form’s purchases were topped by a €480 000 son of deceased star sire Scat Daddy, with his other yearlings including lots by Cape Cross (2), Dawn Approach (2), Declaration Of War, Footstepsinthesand, Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Mastercraftsman, and Rock Of Gibraltar.
