Final fields for Choice Carriers Championship and Drakenstein Vet Clinic Cape Classic

Trainer Vaughan Marshall has decided to let unbeaten The Secret Is Out take her chance in the Grade 2 Choice Carriers Championship over 1400m on Saturday 29 October despite considerable reservations about the Allan Robertson winner’s poor draw. “I am undecided,” he said last Saturday after scrutinising the entries when the filly was drawn No 24 out of 33 runners for this R400,000 event. “You might get away with it on the summer course but this is the winter course.”
Final Judgement, winner of the Grade 2 Golden Slipper at Greyville on July day, pleased Glen Kotzen in a gallop eight days ago. “It was a nice gallop and it was the first one she had since her break. She is very athletic and doesn’t take much work.”
Justin Snaith, whose Gimme Six and Red Light Girl have fared worst in the draw, also runs The Merry Widow (Lerena) who is drawn No 1.

Sail, third in the Golden Slipper and the Grade 1 Thekwini, represents Dennis Drier and has a good draw.
Meanwhile Anton Marcus, who has won two of the last three runnings of the Cape Classic on the Joey Ramsden-trained Red Ray and Act Of War respectively, will be back at Kenilworth to partner top weight Table Bay in the Grade 3 Drakenstein Vet Clinic Cape Classic over 1400m on the same card.
This colt, winner of the Grade 3 Langerman in June, clearly needed the run when he reappeared in a handicap at Durbanville at the beginning of the month and finished third to the four-year-old Winter Prince.

Brett Crawford, who has his horses in sparkling form and trains Winter Prince, is responsible for three of the 10 runners including Edict Of Nantes who scored in convincing style in a graduation plate over this trip at Durbanville last Saturday.
Our Mate Art, though, could be the one they all have to beat. He has no penalty and will be 3kg better off with Table Bay for the head he was beaten in the Langerman. He has a good draw.
Justin Snaith brings Gavin Lerena down for Turbulent Air while Greg Cheyne partners the unfavourably drawn Le Harve.
