Brilliant Bela Is Worth Backing In Met

The smashingly beautiful grey filly Bela -Bela, has developed into one of the best racehorses in South Africa, male or female and she is without a shadow of doubt a major player in the 2017 Grade 1 Sun Met to be run at Kenilworth racecourse on January 28th, and heres why.

It should go without saying that Bela - Bela is a far more mature horse, than she was last season, but her three year old campaign was nothing short of sensational; this filly ran third in the Grade 1 Paddock Stakes (which she subsequently won this year) she was brilliant in Natal winning in the Grade 2 Fillies Guineas and Grade 1 Woolavington 2000, and hardly disgraced herself when running sixth in the Vodacom Durban July. Bela - Bela is unbeaten as a four year old from two starts, and if anything she should be running on strongly over the ten furlong trip in the Met.

the pride of Varsfontein Stud's racing barn will be partnered by none other than multiple July/Met winning jockey Anthony Delpech, who knows her extremely well and she hails from the world class stable of Justin Snaith.

The most encouraging aspect of this fantastic fillies entry into the big race is the fact that Smart Call showed that it is indeed very possible for a filly/mare to win the Met, she went by Legal Eagle the top racehorse in South Africa (who runs again this year) like he was standing still to score in last years edition.

Bela - Bela is definitely worth having a few rand on in the 2017 Sun Met, history has a way of repeating itself, and it could be another case of girl power in the storied feature at Kenilworth.
