MORE THAN READY COLT FETCHES TOP DOLLAR AT GOLD COAST

A son of world leading sire More Than Ready (Southern Halo) proved the star attraction on the second day of trading at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Consigned by the Corumbene Stud, the regally bred colt, who was knocked down to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for AUS$1.3 million, is a full brother to former Champion 2YO Colt and current prominent Australian sire Sebring. The latter has been represented by 23 stakes winners, including former Australian Horse Of The Year Dissident and fellow Australian champion Criterion.

Sebring himself made headlines at the Gold Coast Sale when a colt out of Sensibility was knocked down to George Moore for $730 000.

The pricey $1.3 million colt is the tenth foal of placed Flying Spur mare Purespeed, whose other notable winners include G2 AJC Ajax Handicap winner Pureness and Gr1 BTC Queensland Oaks third Falkenberg (More Than Ready).

Bott said after the purchase, “We identified him very early on as a horse we wanted. We liked him from the first time we saw him at the farm, so have had plenty of time to get the right people together to buy him and his breeder George Altomonte will also be keeping a share.”

Sebring, who was trained by Gai Waterhouse, won five of six outings, including the Gr1 Golden Slipper and Gr1 AJC Champagne Stakes, and was Australia’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2007-2008.

More Than Ready, sire of the session topping colt, is one of the world’s leading sires of stakes winners. His 160 plus stakes winners include such high class South African stakes winners as former Equus champion Entisaar, former Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner and leading young local sire Gimmethegreenlight, and this season’s Gr2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship winner Ektifaa.

The former Gr1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner also had a filly out of Gr3 Cicada Stakes winner Heart Ashley (Lion Heart) fetch $600 000 during the early session of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
