REDOUTE’S CHOICE COLT MAKES HEADLINES AT GOLD COAST SALE

Arrowfield Stud’s outstanding sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) was represented his umpteenth yearling to fetch AUS $1 000 000 plus, when a colt by the triple champion sire topped the third session of the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Friday.
The bay colt, who was consigned by Arrowfield Stud, was knocked down to James Harron Bloodstock for a joint sales topping price thus far of $1.3 million.

Harron spoke to Sky Racing, saying, “He was one of our favourite horses in the whole sale and of course Redoute's Choice needs no introduction. We are in the business of trying to create stallions and he fits exactly what we are doing. He will wear the James Harron Bloodstock colours and be trained by Peter and Paul Snowden.”

Bred on the same Redoute’s Choice/Stravinsky cross as former Australian Horse Of The Year Lankan Rupee, the session topping colt is out of Ballet Blue (Stravinsky) –an unraced half sister to four stakes winners including Gr2 VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner The Heavyweight (Zeditave).

His second dam, the nine time winning mare Rich Haul (Haulpak), is a half sister to Iman (Zemindar), the dam of Gr1 Railway Handicap winner Imananabaa (Anabaa).

Redoute’s Choice has also made his presence felt in South Africa this season, where his runners include Gr3 Drakenstein Vet Clinic Cape Classic winner Table Bay, and he also ranks as broodmare sire of G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship winner Ektifaa (More Than Ready).

To date, the four time Gr1 winning son of Danehill has 137 stakes winners to his credit including South African Gr1 winners Majmu, Musir and Wylie Hall.

At the time of writing, Redoute’s Choice has been represented by at least 70 yearlings to have fetched $1 000 000 plus.

He stood for a stud fee of AUS $110 000 –or over R1 100 000 –in 2016.
