WHISKY BARON SIRE ON THE MOVE

Manhattan Rain (Encosta De Lago), sire of last Saturday’s Gr1 Sun Met winner Whisky Baron, is set to relocate to Blue Gum Farm in Victoria.
The horse, who has been standing at Arrowfield Stud since his retirement in 2010, is moving after Arrowfield’s stallion ranks have been increased by champion Maurice (Screen Hero) and former star 2yo Shalaa (Invincible Spirit).

Winner of the Gr1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Manhattan Rain is a half-brother to Gr1 winners Platinum Scissors (Danehill) and Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), with the latter, who stands at Arrowfield, having headed the Australian sires premiership on three occasions.

Whisky Baron was the first Gr1 winner for his sire, whose previous best included the group winners Moonovermanhattan, Scarlet Rain, and Wild Rain.

To date, the grandson of Fairy King has been represented by 92 winners from 160 runners and 9 individual stakes winners.

Manhattan Rain has been represented by just two runners in South Africa but both have won. Whisky Baron aside, he is also responsible for useful filly Diva Danny, a winner of two of just six outings.

He stood for a fee of AUS 16,500 this year and will stand alongside Canford Cliffs (Tagula), Glass Harmonium (Verglas), Turffontein (Johannesburg), and War (More Than Ready) at the Victoria based Blue Gum Farm.
