The great racemare Winx, has been on her way up since going unbeaten as a juvenile in the 2013/14 season, the five year old has won 18 races (14 consecutive) from 24 outings, and her earnings now stand at a whopping $9,493,925. Winx (132) is the highest rated horse on turf, and when 2014 Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome retired to stud after the running of the inaugural Pegasus World Cup, she became the second highest rated horse in the world behind Arrogate (134).  

It was on February 13th that Winx made a successful comeback in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes over 1400m at Randwick in her first run of 2017. The wonder mare will once again compete at Randwick, with her next mission being the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes over a mile on Saturday. The Chipping Norton Stakes has been won by the likes of Phar Lap, Tranquil Star, Bernborough, Tulloch and not to mention Super Impose and Tie The Knot who won the race 4 consecutive times.

Winx's regular rider Hugh Bowman is confident that she can surpass the winning streak of the legendary seed machine Black Caviar, when asked about the likelihood of her doing so, he responded by saying " If she races for long enough (she can),” Bowman said. “I guess it has a lot to do with her health and wellbeing really. "The form she is in at the moment it looks like she will never lose doesn’t it". Whilst it will be rather interesting to see if Winx's connections decide to give her an overseas campaign in Dubai, Europe or even the United States, every single racing fan around the globe should simply appreciate the wonder mare for the superstar she is.
