Just five of nine scheduled races were run at Turffontein this afternoon, punters looked to be heading for a good day all round, but inclement weather had other plans.

The track was inspected after the jocks refused to ride in protest of what they deemed unsafe conditions for racing.

Following the protest, a panel discussed the state of the track, they concluded that it was in fact safe to race on, but their decision was overturned by the jockeys who voted unanimously in favour of racing being put off for the remainder of the day, thus the meeting was abandoned.
