Half Sister To Via Africa Elusive At Scottsville

Natal trainer Duncan Howells is certainly no stranger to the Qui Danzig mare Bump 'n Grind and her offspring, which have done very well for him. Howells conditioned Via Africa (Var) she was a multiple Grade 1 winner and boasted 10 career victories. Since retiring to the paddocks, half sister Elusivenchantment (Elusive Fort) has continued to keep the family's name in high regard.

She was stepped out this afternoon at Scottsville; the meeting was later abandoned due to bad weather, but that surely would not have dampened the spirits of jockey Kegan De Melo who rode a smart race on Elusivenchantment; he let her bound along in front, where she was quite happy to be, as indicated by her pricked ears. The 4 year old bay filly went and put the race to bed like a good horse should, when challenged by her rivals, to score her 6th career victory (3rd consecutive) from 10 outings.

Elusivenchantment is definitely a horse with a great deal of potential; she ran 6th 2.55 lengths off Real Princess in last season's Grade 1 South African Fillies Sprint, so it would be little surprise to see her back in that type of company very soon, she is one worth following!
