Sweet 16 for Winx

Her seven and a quarter length demolition job of Saturday's George Ryder Stakes is without a doubt the greatest Group One performance worldwide in 2017.

A 16th straight win, 20th in all and 11th at Group One level saw her earnings soar past $10 million and fast closing in to the be the greatest prizemoney earner in Australasian racing history.

Next up for the daughter of Street Cry is a run in the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes in three weeks time.

Trainer Chris Waller and jockey Hugh Bowman were left again searching for the right superlatives for their wonder mare - the highest rated turf horse in the world and one many seasoned racegoers are declaring the best they've seen.

Winx made her first major public appearance at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where she was presented for sale for Fairway Thoroughbreds by Coolmore Stud.

She was an admired filly - was on the market early in bidding - but was sold for $230,000 to the bid of Peter Tighe. He would split ownership with Richard Treweeke and Debbie Kepitis - the rest they say is history!

Winx was the clear standout performer on a big day of racing around the country where a number of fellow Magic Millions graduates raced to stakes success.
