Daughter Of Model Man Makes Waves Down Under

The South African bred Alpine Club (Model Man) made a positive impression on the first day of trading at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Her colt by Sebring (More Than Ready) was knocked down to Astute Bloodstock for AUS $400 000.

He is the third foal for Alpine Club, who won the 2008 Gr3 Umzimkhulu Stakes and who finished second in the same season’s Gr3 Three Troikas Stakes, when accounting for Gr2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Glenrossal (Anytime).

The daughter of Model Man’s previous two foals have both won, and include three time winner Chamois Road (Choisir).

Another lot with South African connections to fare well at the first day of the Easter Sale was lot 133, a chestnut colt by sire-of-the-moment Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) who was knocked down for $420 000. The Hong Kong bound colt is out of six time stakes winner Femina Fashion (Shamardal), a half-sister to former Sean Tarry trained racemare Happy Archer (Dubawi), a Greyville specialist whose wins included both the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes and Gr1 Garden Province Stakes.

Former Equus Champion 2YO Asylum Seeker (Count Dubois) had a filly by Sebring (More Than Ready) knocked down to World Wide Bloodstock South Africa for $95 000.

World Wide Bloodstock was not the only buyer active on the day with South African connections.

Paul Guy’s Heritage Bloodstock SA was also active on the first day of trading at the sale, buying a daughter of top sire Medaglia D’Oro (El Prado) for AUS$130 000. This filly is out of seven time Gr2 winner Buckleupbuttercup, whose wins included the Gr2 Chilukki Stakes.
