Big Week For Frankel

Juddmonte Farm’s unbeaten superstar Frankel (Galileo) has enjoyed a superb week over the past seven days.
The champion, and highest rated horse in Timeform history, has been represented by no fewer than six winners in the past seven days.

First of the Frankel winners in the week was Weekender, who broke his maiden by half a length when successful over 2000m at Chelmsford City last Thursday. The champion was then represented by a pair of winners at Maisons-Laffitte on Monday when his son, Last Kingdom (who holds an Investec Derby entry), won his first race over 1600m. Frankel’s daughter Middle East also scored her first win on the same day, when landing a maiden over 1600m by a head.

The champion was then represented by a trio of winners on Wednesday – daughter Wishing Time landing a handicap over 1000m, San Remo scoring his first win at Dundalk, and Monarchs Glen winning the 32Red Handicap over 2200m at Kempton.

Monarchs Glen, now a winner of two of his first three outings, holds an entry in the Gr2 Betfred Dante Stakes, one of the leading trials for the Gr1 Investec Derby.

Frankel’s son Swiss Storm is currently a 14-1 shot for the 2017 Gr1 Qipco 2000 Guineas, a race also possibly to be targeted by other Frankel colts Dream Castle, Eminent, Frankuus, and Seven Heavens.

The sire looks also likely to be strongly represented in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas –his Gr3 winning daughter Fair Eva is currently the third favourite for this fillies classic.

Frankel himself won the 2011 2000 Guineas by six lengths –it was one of 10 individual Gr1 victories for the champion, who was Cartier Horse Of The Year in 2011 and 2012. His first crop, now 3, include six stakes winners at the moment, including Japanese champion Soul Stirring, a close up third in the recent Gr1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas).

A son of champion sire Galileo, Frankel (one of 3 stakes winners for his dam Kind) is an own brother to triple Gr1 winner and US sire Noble Mission.
