Strydom Gives Thoughts On Its My Turn And The July

After getting a game, Surcharge (Gimmethegreenlight) up to win the first of the afternoon at the Vaal, legendary jockey, Piere “Striker” Strydom in what was a most interesting post race interview gave his opinion on this years, Durban July and more over his mount, Its My Turn (Dynasty).

Strydom remarked “when I initially studied the form there was a couple of other horses I could have got, some I really wanted, but couldn’t get as there was no commitment from the other side, then I got a lot of offers and I could have ridden one for Mayfair Speculators, but had to wait for Anton to make his decision, I know it worked out last year, but I can’t depend on that every year, Anton’s a champion jockey and he wont make the same mistake over and over, then the Snaiths offered me a ride, I was always leaning towards, Black Arthur (Silvano) and then I started to lean towards, Its My Turn and then I realised that Its My Turn is not having a second run, that’s what puts me off a bit, I would have liked him to have had another run in between, but I’ll be trying."

This is certainly crucial information heading into the big one on Saturday and it will be interesting to see what the betting public make of Strydom’s sentiments.
