Former Broodmare Of The Year Akinfeet (Fort Wood) will be among the top mares visiting Gimmethegreenlight this season.

Equus Broodmare Of The Year back in 2013, Akinfeet was a smart racemare, who won twice and who finished third, to subsequent Gr1 Prix Vermeille winner Mezzo Soprano (Darshaan), in the 2003 UAE 1000 Guineas at Nad Al Sheba.

Since retiring to stud, the daughter of Fort Wood and G2 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Dance Every Dance (Northern Guest) has proved consistently successful, with seven of her eight runners having won.
Her most notable runner is 2014 Equus Champion Miler Capetown Noir (Western Winter), a triple Gr1 winner who is now standing at Summerhill Stud. Capetown Noir was a superb athlete, whose victories included the 2012 Gr1 Cape Premier Yearling Sales Guineas, 2013 Gr1 Investec Cape Derby and 2014 Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.

Capetown Noir’s first yearlings will sell in 2018.

Akinfeet is also dam of Gr3 August Stakes winner Across The Ice (Western Winter) and five time winner Maxixe (Western Winter), who was runner up in the Listed Milkwood Stakes.

Akinfeet’s latest progeny to shine is the promising 3yo Premier Dance (Silvano), narrowly beaten at Greyville on Saturday and a winner of three of her six starts to date.

Premier Dance has been entered in the Gr2 Gold Bracelet at the end of the month, where she could bid to provide her remarkable dam with more black type.
