L'ormarins Queens Plate Oak Tree Stakes Looks Open

A large field of 17 fillies and mares will line up for the Gr3 L’Ormarins Queens Plate Oak Tree Stakes, over 1400m at Goodwood on Friday.

The runners include dual South African Gr1 winner Same Jurisdiction (Mambo In Seattle), who will carry the famed L’Ormarins silks in Friday’s contest. Trained by Ed Dunlop, Same Jurisdiction is yet to win in four starts since being exported to Britain but she should enjoy the trip of Friday’s race.

Daban (Acclamation), winner of the Gr3 Nell Gwyn Stakes, looks a big runner here, having finished third to the brilliant Winter (Galileo) in the Gr1 Qipco 1000 Guineas and must have a chance on that form. Not disgraced when sixth, in open company, in the Gr3 Jersey Stakes, and, despite a penalty, must have a chance here.

Last year’s winner Al Jazi (whose sire Canford Cliffs arrives in South Africa next year) is unbeaten in her only outing at the course and gets the services of red hot jockey Frankie Dettori, while top-weight Mix And Mingle (who is conceding from 3 to 9lbs to her rivals) won her first 2 starts this season, including the Gr3 Chartwell Fillies Stakes, but beat only two home last time out when well beaten in the Gr2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot. She should relish the drop back to 1400m however.

Ashadihan (Kyllachy) looks held by Mix And Mingle on her last outing, while Buying Trouble (a close relative of Cape sire Pathfork) is another who appears held on current form.

Cheveley Park Stud have two runners here –the progressive Sainted (Dutch Art), a winner of three of her four outings and potentially better than rated, and Eternally (Dutch Art). The latter has won four of six including the Listed October Stakes, but appears to have a tough task on her hands having not raced since last October.

The German trained Wild Approach (New Approach) is a relatively unknown quantity but did finish second in a Gr3 in Germany last time out and should enjoy the soft going likely to be found in Friday’s race.

Asking (Zoffany) needs to repeat her run to the talented Realtra (Dark Angel) three runs back to feature here, while Bletchley (Makfi), another likely to enjoy the going, would be a big danger if repeating her close second to subsequent Gr1 winner Brave Anna (War Front) in the Gr3 Albany Stakes last year.

Cristal Fizz (Power) was a Listed winner at two and is dropping in class here, while Perfect Angel (Dark Angel), from a hot yard, tries the 1400m trip for a first time and must be a danger if repeating her second, in open company, in the Gr3 Hackwood Stakes last time out.

Tomyris, who gets the services of deadly jockey Andrea Atzeni, has Sibilance held on their last meeting, when Tomyris landed a Listed race at York and drops back in trip from a mile.

One time winner Classical Times (Lawman) looks up against it, as does narrow recent maiden winner Tundra (Bated Breath).
