Equus 2017: DYNASTY DAUGHTERS TO FIGHT OUT EQUUS AWARD

Leading sire Dynasty is responsible for both the nominees in the category of Equus Champion Three-Year-Old Filly this year, with his daughters Just Sensual and Lady Of The House the only fillies nominated.

Regally bred Just Sensual, who is out of former Equus champion Consensual, won five of eight races during the season, with her crowning glory coming when downing Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes winner Safe Harbour (Elusive Fort) in the Gr1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas.

The Joey Ramsden trained filly made amends for an unplaced effort, from the widest draw of all, in the CTS Mile when downing older fillies and mares in the Gr3 Vasco Taverna Prix du Cap at Kenilworth over 1400m.

Sent to KZN, Just Sensual lost nothing in defeat when second, over a trip short of her best, to five time Gr1 winner Carry On Alice (Captain Al) before picking up her third graded win of the season in the Gr2 Tibouchina Stakes.
Despite disappointing when unplaced in the Gr1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes (her only other outing of the season), Just Sensual looks to have done more than enough to garner the title of Equus Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.

Lady Of The House, produced by Arch’s multiple Gr1 winning Equus Champion daughter Overarching, won three of eight races during the 2016-2017 and was not disgraced when a close up fifth, behind Just Sensual, in the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas.

She was unplaced in her next two outings, but ended her season in a blaze of glory (and provided trainer Brett Crawford with one of two Gr1 winners on the day) when landing the Gr1 Woolavington 2000 at Greyville-when overcoming the widest draw of all.
