Miss Frankel injured in Run, rest for 4 months

Miss Frankel, the only Frankel racing in South Africa currently, has injured herself. She will go into an enforced lay off for the second time in her short career after taking 7 months off from her debut run to her second start.

Miss Frankel is somewhat of a social media phenomenon having only won one race to date. She is speedy and well bred with much expected of her.

Her Facebook page was updated as follows.

"I know you've all been waiting to hear from me, so here goes!  The results from this morning's scans & x-rays have arrived and unfortunately I've strained the right high suspensory ligament behind my knee.So it's a 4 month rest period at Avontuur coming up for me, starting off with box confinement for about a month. After that I'll be doing a bit of slow hand-walking under Pippa's care,  and eventually end up in a small paddock so that my leg can rest up properly. I know it's frustrating, but remember I'm young and I've got years ahead of me, so the best thing to do, is get rest and heal fully.  A special thanks to MJ BYLEVELD who felt me losing my action around the 400m mark, and allowed me to come safely home without further injury. I'm looking forward to a bit of R & R and will hopefully see all my fans again when the KZN season starts next year."
