The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on 24 November 2017, Trainer Roy Magner was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.16.5, in that certain used needles and syringes seized by Officials of The National Horseracing Authority at Trainer Magner’s racing stables at Randjesfontein on 15 September 2017, were found upon analysis, to contain Testosterone, Testosterone Cypionate, Testosterone Isocaproate and Testosterone Phenylpropionate, which are forbidden substances in terms of Rule 74.2.

Mr Magner pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after hearing the evidence presented, considering Trainer Magner’s record, and all other factors presented in mitigation, ruled that Trainer Magner be fined the sum of R50 000.
