Legal Gun in Town for the Green Point

The biggest gun in the land over 1600m is in town to take on Cape Town's best in the Green Point Stakes on Saturday as the Cape Summer Season climaxes towards the Queens Plate and Met.

Legal Eagle is no doubt using this as a prep run into the prestigious Queens Plate but he has something prove here as he takes on Brett Crawford's stars in this event. The defending champ started his last season in the same fashion as this one with this race and has taken the same route to glory again. Hopefully looking for the same result as well.

Having been beaten in both his last two events, one patently short for him and one, possibly too long, the star galloper is back to his best trip at one of his favourite tracks. He is the horse to beat here.

The Crawford runners have come into their own of late with all three of Edict Of Nantes, Captain America and Sail South in cracking form, one would have to be hard pressed to figure out which will come out on top in this event. There was less than a length separating them in the last race they all contested together a few weeks back and it will be luck in the running that will see them sorting out their order here. They all have to beat Legal Eagle who looks a cut above them at this distance but do not rule out the possible Met favourite, Edict Of Nantes sneaking the win. He really is all class.

Captain America and Sail South are also outstanding thoroughbreds with the later having blossomed nicely of late. Of the others, Our Mate Art will do well to repeat his last win when he won the Matchem and he is a nice type. Gold Standard is another with some nice form and his run behind Whisky Baron was particularly impressive.
