SAF BRED out of Hong Kong Race

South Africa's Hong Kong based trainer,  Tony Millard, has loss his battle to get his recent Group 3 winner, Nassa, into the Hong Kong Cup after suffering a tendon injury.

Nassa had no chance of getting into the field a couple months ago but was entered into a Group 3, the Ladies’ Purse, and won the race. He got penalized a hefty 18-points, then finished 3rd to Werther in a Group 2 and got a 7 point penulty for that run. This allowed him to get into the Cup.

The South African purchase was once touted to be anything by Millard. He declared after his latest win, “It’s very special to do it with Nassa of all horses,” Millard said. “I bought him as a yearling in South Africa and he can be anything. We’ve always known that he is very good and today he showed it – I really think he’s something special.”

He is one to watch but not next week.
