GRADE 2 WIN FOR WESTERNER

KEEPER HILL (IRE) gained his second win in three starts over fences when taking the Grade 2 December Novices’Chase at Doncaster on Saturday. The Warren Greatrex-trained six-year-old faced just three rivals in the three mile contest and took the lead from two out, running home strongly to extend his lead to eight lengths on the line. Joint favourite Braqueur D’Or took second, while the other favourite, Rocklander (IRE), fell at the first.

Bred by Sharon Ryan, KEEPER HILL (IRE) sold through the Premier Consignment at the Tattersalls Ireland February NH Sale for €3,800 and resold two years later for €31,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale. He went on to win a bumper by six lengths for Ronnie O’Leary, before being purchased by current connections. By Castle Hyde Stud sire Westerner, he is out of a Definite Article half-sister to Grade 1 winner Irish Cavalier (IRE), Grade 2 winner Make A Track (IRE) and Grade 3 winner Shattered Love (IRE). Grade 1 Champion Hurdle winner Make A Stand features further down the page.
