Ramsden Fined

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 7 February 2018, Trainer Mr Joey Ramsden was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the Trainer of the horse LILY THERESA from which a specimen was taken, after it had participated in and won the 2nd Race run at Kenilworth Racecourse on 8 April 2017, which disclosed upon analysis the presence of Dexamethasone, a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

The Inquiry Board, in the absence of Mr J Ramsden, entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. The Board, after giving consideration to the evidence presented, found him guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board having regard to all the circumstances of this matter and giving due consideration to mitigating factors put forward on behalf of Mr Ramsden, imposed a penalty of R23 000.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 LILY THERESA is disqualified from the 2nd Race run at Kenilworth Racecourse on 8 April 2017, and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply mutatis mutandis.
