At an Inquiry held in Durban on 27 February 2018 Apprentice Khanya Sakayi was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3, in that as the rider of JUST RAP, he failed to ride this mare out to the finish, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining third position in the 8th Race at Greyville Racecourse on 27 January 2018.

Apprentice K Sakayi pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge. The Board, after considering all that was stated in evidence and in mitigation, imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days. Apprentice Sakayi has the right of appeal against the severity of the penalty imposed.
