YOUMZAIN RELOCATES TO GLENVIEW

The Cashman family’s Glenview Stud in County Cork has made the exciting announcement that YOUMZAIN (IRE) will join their roster. The dual Group 1 winner moves from Haras du Quesnay in France, where he sired Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes winner Sea Calisi and last year’s Group 2 Gran Criterium victor Royal Youmzain.

His oldest crop is now six, but have already shown great promise in the national hunt sphere, with Simon Munir and Isaac Soude’s Delire D’Estruval a Listed winner over hurdles, while the Willie Mullins-trained Saglawy won his maiden hurdle by 15 lengths last month.

Trained by Mick Channon, YOUMZAIN (IRE) has the form to become a top national hunt sire, having raced against many- he beat Soldier Of Fortuner (IRE) and Getaway to win the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud. The Jaber Abdullah-owned horse, though, would always take the role of bridesmaid in the great Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, in which he finished second three times to Sea The Stars (IRE), Zarkava and Dylan Thomas (IRE). Other noble defeats include being beaten a nose by Ask In the Coronation Cup, plus another second to Soldier Of Fortune (IRE) the previous year, while he finished third in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic the year before that.

Bred by Frank Dunne, the son of Sinndar (IRE) is a half-brother to Lockinge winner and Irish Guineas second Creachadoir (IRE), also known as the sire of Footpad. They are out of the Sadler’s Wells mare, Sadima (IRE), with the great Pilsudski (IRE) featuring under the third dam.
