Inquiry: Jockey Marco Van Rensburg

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in the Stipendiary Stewards Boardroom, Turffontein Racecourse on 14 April 2018, Jockey Marco van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HAKEEM at approximately the 150m in race 6 run at the Turffontein Racecourse on 31 March 2018.

 

Jockey van Rensburg pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

 

The Inquiry Board, after viewing the patrol films of the race, hearing the evidence presented by Jockey van Rensburg in mitigation and taking his record into account, ruled that he be suspended from riding in races for a period of 14 days.

 

Jockey van Rensburg has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
