It was a momentous occasion for two racing families as Fabian Habib (pictured) and Chesney Van Zyl trained their first winners.

Chesney Van Zyl, son of Grade 1 winning trainer and successful jockey Gavin, had his first winner yesterday at the Vaal with Barbie Doll under Callan Murray.

He also follows in the footsteps of his brother Gareth in taking out his licence.

Fabian Habib was ecstatic in his post race interview as he brought home Sail For Joy under Ryan Munger. The Habib family is well known in racing circles and it was an excellent start for the young Fabian.

We wish Van Zyl ans Habib the best in their young careers.
