July Fever : Legislate V Rabada in Barrier Trial at Scottsville

Cracker Barrier Trial at Scottville

Two former stars of the turf, especially of the Greyville turf, will take on each other on a smashing barrier trial at Scottville on Sunday.

The VODACOM July winner Legislate and Daily News winner Rabada, go eye ball to eye ball in a dash up the straight at the Pmb course in their compulsory barrier trial before racing.

The eagerly awaited return of Legislate is of most interest as he holds a July entry after coming back from Stud duties due to fertility issues. The former Horse of the Year was a star of the turf before retirement and his first race back, which is still to be announced, is one of the most important events of the Kzn season before the July. He would rank as the dark horse of the July entries and this barrier trial will affect the July betting especially for the early bettors.

July entry Rabada switched stables from Mike Azzie to Brett Crawford with Azzie taking the star galloper to grade 1 winning glory. Crawford is one of the best in the country and he looks in good hands, however still owned by the controversial former racing arm of Markus Jooste Mayfair Speculators.

Some of the unraced runners have their work cut out for them but it would be excellent to see their efforts pitted up against these stars and anyone who comes close to these two should be watched in their debuts.
