Midweek Success for Apprentices

The Apprentices of the South African Jockey Academy (SAJA) performed excellently over the past week! The midweek racing kicked off with a bang on Tuesday when Louis Burke, who rode a delightful double at Kenilworth racecourse, winning Race 2 aboard “CHINA WOLF” trained by Dan Katz and Race 6 aboard “CAVALLERIA” trained by Paddy Kruyer.
The Scottsville race meeting on Wednesday netted the apprentices 4 out the 8 races on the card. Lyle Hewitson started thing off by winning Race 4 aboard “MAJESTIC GLORY” trained by Paul Lafferty. Serino Moodley, who is rapidly approaching the magical 60 winners mark, got into the action by riding an excellent double winning Race 5 aboard “SILVER ROSE” trained by Andre Nel and Race 6 aboard “ARIZONA SUNSET” trained by Kom Naidoo. Khanya Sakayi then won Race 7 in fine style aboard “RAE’S DYNA JET” trained by Gavin van Zyl. This was such a good ride that it earned Khanya ride of the week from Gold Circle.
The ever consistent Lyle Hewitson wrapped up the midweek action for the apprentices when he won Race 2 at the Vaal on Thursday aboard “ANNEKA” trained by Sean Tarry. South African Jockey Academy Principal, Graham Bailey, was once again full of praise for the Academy Riding Department saying “the success achieved by our Apprentices this week is due the constant hard work put in by our Jockey Coaches.”
