The HKJC have announced that Grant Van Niekerk and Callan Murray have been granted licences to ride in Hong Kong for the New season

Both South African have been granted Club Licences for part of the season and this is normally subject to performance until it is reviewed later in the year.

This comes on the back of the shocking news that Joao Moreira has quit Hong Kong after five seasons for Japan and will apply for one of the few JRA licenses offered to foreign jockeys. Currently only two have that privilege at the moment.

Van Niekerk is new to the Hong Kong scene whilst Murray has ridden a part season before being supplementary to needs last year. South African have enjoyed success in Hong Kong with Douglas Whyte winning multiple titles along with Basil Marcus. Felix Coetzee was also successful especially with his flagship mount, Silent Witness and Marwing, Strydom, Cheyne and others have plied their trade on the island.
