Racing at the Vaal has been abandoned due to the Grooms strike. This has a devastating effect in the entire industry as a whole.

The more than 200 grooms along with the EFF have gone on strike refusing and to allow horses to leave Randjiesfontein and threatening and intimidating others not involved in the strike.

Wage demands and conditions of living and employment are central to the strikers demands. Unfortunately this situation has reached a point where things are out of control. 

Phumelela have a serious issue to solve and have to work with all sides to resolve this.
