Smart Call Retired to Stud

Smart Call, the Sun Met winner, who campaigned overseas of late, has been retired by owner Jessica Slack.

The mare had one final tilt recently when showing up gamely again after winning her penultimate well. She retires an eight time winner including the prestigious Sun Met. Her lone overseas win saw her claim victory in a UK Group 3 event before finishing fourth in a Group 2. The mare has raced in Ireland, England, France and Hong Kong. She was certainly well traveled and Slack left no stone unturned to prove her abilities overseas.

Jessica Slack spoke exclusively to Sahorseracing.com about the future of her Uber valuable Grade 1 winner.

"We are all so proud of her and selfishly everyone on the farm is excited that she can now start her breeding career. Smart Call has moved from Sir Michael Stoute’s yard to join Banbury at the National Stud in Newmarket. Banbury flew over with Smart Call so I hope the friends will be happy to be reunited. Banbury has had one foal so far (Southern time). Both mares have been booked to stallions Southern time this year. They get 5 star treatment at at National Stud and we are so lucky to be able to keep them there. Waving a magic wand, we would hope to get them both home in the next few years."
