Darley Japan acquires Yoshida and Palace Malice

Darley in Japan has expanded its stallion lineup with the introduction of two notable horses – Palace Malice and Yoshida. Palace Malice, a classic winner, secured victory in the 2013 Belmont Stakes and later demonstrated his prowess at stud by siring a Breeders' Cup winner in his first crop. Notably, he has produced 23 stakes performers to date, including Jantar Mantar, an unbeaten Japanese grade 2-winning juvenile.

Yoshida, a Japanese-bred horse, boasts a remarkable record as a multiple grade 1 winner on both turf and dirt. His victories include the 2018 Turf Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs and the Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. Additionally, Yoshida's first crop of 2-year-olds has shown promise, with two stakes performers and nine individual winners.

Darley in Japan president Harry Sweeney expressed satisfaction with the new additions, emphasizing Palace Malice's success on Japanese turf and Yoshida's versatility. Despite both stallions having raced in the U.S., they are well-regarded among Japanese breeders. Sweeney looks forward to a stronger and more diverse stallion lineup for the upcoming season.

While previously announced stallions Adayar and Hukum have generated excitement, the inclusion of Palace Malice and Yoshida further enhances Darley in Japan's offerings. The fees for these stallions will be disclosed at a later date, adding to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming breeding season.
