Kempton Anticipation: Gr1 Ladbrokes King George VI Chase and Christmas Hurdle Highlights

On Tuesday at 16h30, Kempton Racecourse takes center stage, hosting the esteemed Gr1 Ladbrokes King George VI Chase. The renowned 3-mile chase, expected to unfold on good to soft ground, boasts a stellar lineup of eight contenders.

Leading the charge is Willie Mullins' formidable entry, Allaho, boasting an impressive rating of 176. A dual winner of the Ryanair at Cheltenham, this nine-year-old triumphed in the 2022 Gold Cup at Punchestown over 3 miles, demonstrating his prowess over the distance. Fresh from a victory in the Clonmel Oil Chase last month after an eighteen-month injury layoff, Allaho appears primed for a strong Boxing Day performance.

Among Allaho's challengers, Bravemansgame, despite being a beaten favorite in both starts this season, enters the race with confidence. Jockey Harry Cobden remains optimistic about their chances in this long-term target event.

Shishkin, didn't jump at Ascot, and now faces the task of proving his racing mettle. Gerri Colombe contemplates a run in Ireland next week, leaving The Real Whacker with a mission to bounce back from a moderate reappearance at Cheltenham.

Before the King George VI Chase, at 15h55, all eyes turn to the Gr1 Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle. The mighty Constitution Hill, making a belated seasonal return, headlines the race over 2 miles. With only five rivals to contend with, Nicky Henderson's star holds a substantial 26lbs rating advantage over the nearest competitor, Rubaud (pictured, Kempton image).
