British Sunday Racing to Kick off but Staffing Concerns Raised

Wolverhampton's Sunday evening lineup has drawn an impressive 203 entries, signaling a lively start to the six Sunday evening all-weather cards featured in the 2024 fixture list. The seven-race card boasts a generous £145,000 in prize money, with races at Class 4 or below set to run for at least three times the respective minimum value.

Despite the excitement, some trainers have raised concerns about staffing this fixture. The upcoming meeting, scheduled as the first of the trial series running from January 7 to March 10, has sparked discussions among stable staff, who have historically debated the feasibility of evening racing on Sundays. The BHA's commercial committee, however, has greenlit this trial period to assess the viability and response to such fixtures.

Stable staff attending the Sunday evening meetings at Wolverhampton will receive a bonus payment of £150. To accommodate this commitment, they will be granted an additional half-day off earlier in the week. This initiative aims to recognize and reward their dedication while ensuring a balanced and supportive work schedule.
