Slipper Fav to be ridden by Ryan Moore

Coolmore is set to bring in Ryan Moore, their retained jockey from Europe, to pilot the Golden Slipper favorite, Storm Boy. Meanwhile, Australia's champion rider, James McDonald, will partner with Switzerland, donning the iconic navy blue silks for the world's richest two-year-old race.

The decision was reached during a phone discussion on Wednesday, with Moore handpicked by Coolmore to ride Storm Boy.

Coolmore Australia's head, Tom Magnier, expressed gratitude for securing the services of two top-tier jockeys, emphasizing the challenge of making the selection. He highlighted Storm Boy and Switzerland's impeccable preparations and exceptional talent, acknowledging the significance of the upcoming barrier draw.

While McDonald's familiarity with Switzerland and his role as Waller's primary stable jockey factored into the decision, Magnier stressed the competitiveness of both horses and the expertise of the chosen riders.

Storm Boy, a son of Justify, was acquired by the global breeding powerhouse, valued at $30 million after his impressive victory at the Magic Millions. Like Switzerland, he remains undefeated leading up to the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on March 23.

Moore, who clinched Coolmore's first Slipper victory aboard Shinzo last year, will exclusively ride Storm Boy in the Golden Slipper. However, if the colt progresses to the Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes, McDonald will take the reins.

As part of the Storm Boy acquisition deal, substantial bonuses await should he secure victory in the Golden Slipper en route to Sydney's two-year-old triple crown, potentially doubling his value to $60 million.
