INTERIM SUSPENSION ON JOCKEY SANDILE KHATHI

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that it has imposed an interim suspension on Jockey Sandile Khathi in terms of Rule 91.2. This follows Jockey Khathi being substituted on his carded riding engagements prior to the commencement of the Fairview race meeting on Friday, 22 March 2024 in terms of the provisions of Rule 4.2.18.

An Inquiry has been opened into an incident that occurred on Friday, 1 March 2024 regarding an initial, and a second urine sample, that were taken from Jockey Khathi. The NHA Laboratory findings regarding these and other urine samples taken from Jockey Khathi on different race days have led to the interim suspension being imposed.

Mr Khathi has been interviewed and advised of the status quo which is in the best interests of rider safety, horse welfare and the integrity of the horseracing industry.

NHA release
