Bowman now on Lucky Sweynesse

Hugh Bowman has secured the ride on Lucky Sweynesse for the upcoming Group Two Sprint Cup, making him the third jockey to ride the star sprinter in as many starts. Despite previous successes with Zac Purton, Lucky Sweynesse's connections opted for James McDonald in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup, and now Bowman gets his chance. Bowman expressed his excitement, acknowledging Lucky Sweynesse's status as one of Hong Kong's top sprinters.

Manfred Man Ka-leung has been rotating riders for Lucky Sweynesse, with Bowman being the sixth jockey to partner with the talented sprinter. Additionally, Bowman will ride Russian Emperor in the Chairman’s Trophy, acknowledging that it might not be a winning race but expressing satisfaction with the horse's preparation.

Reflecting on his recent ride in the Hong Kong Derby aboard Helios Express, Bowman suggested that the demanding 2,000 meters might have been a challenge for the Classic Mile and Classic Cup winner. Despite the injury concerns, Bowman feels the horse ran a strong race.

Looking ahead, Bowman aims for success at Happy Valley, particularly highlighting Jumbo Legend as one to watch in the To Kwa Wan Handicap.

Meanwhile, Zac Purton is set to compete in the Group One Doncaster Mile in Sydney aboard Militarize on April 6, seeking to defend his title.
