Sir, You are Good, Kzn feature for De Kock inmate

Cheveley Stud bred Sir David Baird became the latest Mike De Kock inmate  to impress when the stable had a  ten minute listed race spree in two provinces. In the Kzn feature racewin, at Greyville the three-year-old gelding romped to a four and a quarter length win in the Listed KZN Guineas Trial on Saturday.

Ridden by Gavin Lerena, Sir David Baird made it two wins from just four outings, with a bloodless win in the Greyville’s 1600m contest, with Ryker well held in second, with third place finisher Draugliun beaten five and a quarter lengths at thewires Sir David Baird races in the famed red and whitesilks of Mike &  Norma Rattray, , the former owners of Lammerskraal Stud.

Winning trainer Mike de Kock said after the win, “It’s is a difficult distance. But Mr Rattray has left us alone since we bought the horse. He is above average and this good win will get his confidence back.”

A son of four times Equus Outstanding Stallion, and former National Sale buy, Dynasty, Sir David Baird was purchased by Form Bloodstock for R1 300 000 buy off the 2016 National Yearling Sale.

The well bred gelding is out of the Elliodor mare Oceana, whose five wins included the Listed Starling and Three Troikas Stakes. Oceana, also runner up in the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship, is herself a half-sister to four other stakes winners, headed by Equus Champion 2yo and sire Argonaut.

A tilt at the G1 Cape Guineas is next on the cards for the very exciting Sir David Baird!
