Drier is Back With Greyville Treble

Dennis Drier is back on the board after a quiet few months with the stable going through a virus of some sorts.

Drier was in Tellytrack outlining the issues of the stable without explaining the exact reason other than that they were all below their best.

Drier came back with a bang at Greyville on Sunday with three wins from Hard Core, Driven Force and Perfect Air. He was pleasantly surprised with the effort of Hard Core for big KZN based owner Nic Jonsson. The colt beat a favoured first timers into third but Drier found it hard to be confident of the run as it was the beginning of the stable turning after the virus. With the evidence on display on that first race he duly won the second with Driven Force and then later on with Perfect Air.

It was the perfect day for Drier who claim to be back and not lie down, he vowed to fight through the stables battles after his interview in the first. The result was instant.

Sean Veale rode two of those winners including Perfect Air, a horse he was confident would be hard to beat in a post race interview after this first win on Driven Force. Young star Luke Ferraris was onboard race 1's winner, his first for Drier.

The champion trainer in Kzn, crowned at the awards on Friday night, showed his class at the day grass meeting at the city course.

He will one to follow come in the next few weeks. Another top Kzn stable, that of Duncan Howells, also suggested that his stable was below its best a few meetings ago but duly found form again with a few winners. This was on the back of the excellent form of Muzi Yeni who is now the stable elect jockey for Howells.

Kzn's top two trainers are flying at the moment. It should be an interesting time for punters in the notoriously difficult punting months of August, September and October, the months post the Kzn Winter Season when horses are usually taking a break and going for their respective vaccinations.
