The Victory Moon Stakes Grade 3 was taken by Takingthepeace ridden by Warren Kennedy and trained by Victory Moon's conditioner Mike De Kock.

It was a win full of merit as the well weighted filly showed her class in the face of some hardened opposition and useful male contenders to win the race with something in hand. The race was also a preparation run for the Summer Cup sponsored by GBets and it was the perfect result. 

The race panned out perfectly for Takingthepeace as Kennedy positioned her just off the pace in around Seventh position after the runners settled down the Turffontein backstraight. The race leader was Cash Time from Dawn Assault with Takingthepeace idling in her mild field position  In the straight she was moved towards the inside of runners in a gap closest to the running rail where the going was likely better and she accelerated past runners in fine style. Sabina's Dynasty was flying at the finish to grap secong from Cash Time who stayed on well after a game front running effort. 

Takingthepeace just missed the Triple Tiara when Secret Potion spoilt the party earlier this year. Incidently Secret Potion was backed at long odds and won her race earlier on in the delayed card. She beat the hot favourite Cascapedia, the Irish bred mare.

Takingthepeace is owned by a charismatic bunch of owners including Messrs M Makepeace, M F de Kock, C and R Kieswetter and M C Shea.
