TRAINER’S / JOCKEY’S COMMENTS

RACE 1 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
5 / 1 / 3 / 9

● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2 and 5 - ALPHABET STREET & HIDDEN POWER :
Alphabet Street has her first run for the yard and on Poly, but she
will run well and could place. Hidden Power has placed in her last two
and has an each way chance.
● JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 3 and 6 - DESERT WANDERER & HURRICANE
SASHA : Desert Wanderer has a chance here on her fair form. Hurricane
Sasha is better than her last two and can run into quartets.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 4 and 11 - HALLO ROSIE & SPORT CHIC : Hallo
Rosie’s just gone off the boil but is capable of better and could
place. Sport chic tries the blinkers again and can place.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 7 - PRINCESS BLITZ : She is new to the yard
and the Poly track so it will be a learning curve, but she does show
good pace back home and is drawn well.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 8 - EESHARA : She has a place chance.

RACE 2 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
1 / 2 / 6 / 5

● GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 4 - AMAZON KING & FOUNDING FATHER :
Amazon King enjoys track and trip, he’ll be there. Founding Father has
a place chance.
● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2 and 3 - LORD WINDERMERE & SEATTLE OAK :
Lord Windermere is consistent and loves the Poly, he’ll be in the mix.
Seattle Oak is also a Poly fan, though she is probably at her best
over a furlong shorter.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 6 - COUNTING STARS : He is honest and always
tries, though he does need his merit rating to drop to be truly
competitive.
TARA LAING - Number 7 - LARRY JACK : He won his maiden well but
didn’t beat much and takes on much stronger here, he needs to drop in
the ratings.

RACE 3 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
2 / 3 / 6 / 8

● ALAN GREEFF - Number 2 - ETERNAL NIGHT : She had excuses for her
last and still placed, she does have a chance here.
● JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 8 and 11 - ARCTIC SIREN & STORYFIELDS :
Kanishiwa needed her last. Arctic Siren is in good form and has a
quartet chance. Storyfields must improve.
CANDICE BASS-ROBINSON (comments prior to travel) - Number 1 -
PROFOUND : She’s been a bit of an enigma showing great work back home
and then on race day she travels well in the running, but once off the
bit has nothing to come. Trying a new surface we’re just hoping she
can produce her track work, because if she does she’ll run well.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 6 - NEVERLETUGO : She is very well in
herself and can run into the money.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 7 - PRINCESS ELSA : She over reached badly in
her last start. Back to a 1300m with a decent draw, we are hoping for
improvement.
TARA LAING - Number 9 - BRAGGIE’S SUNSHINE : She hasn’t shown much,
we are trying her on the Poly and are hoping for better.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 10 and 12 - MARMALADE SKY & ROCKINGTHEDISTRICT
: Expecting improvement from Marmalade Sky. Rockingthedistrict put up
a decent first effort and will enjoy the extra.

RACE 4 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
2 / 10 / 7 / 4

● GRANT PADDOCK - Numbers 3 and 4 - BAKKIES & ROCK THE COT : Much of
a muchness between them as they ran on top of each other last time
out, good races and they are both working well. Rock the Cot has
possibly got the advantage with a much better draw, but they both have
place chances.
● SHARON KOTZEN - Number 7 - LETS PLAY BALL : He ran a great race
last time out on Turf, but he has run good races on Poly too, so drawn
well we are hoping for a repeat.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 6, 8 and 13 - CAPTAIN PARKER, MASTER NEWTON &
BAYETO : Captain Parker is trying the Poly and improvement is
expected. Master Newton has his first run out of the maidens, he won
well last time out with the blinkers. Bayeto has a light weight and
can place.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 5 and 9 - MAPLE SYRUP, ALBRANDINO &
LIMESTONE MASS : Maple Syrup placed in her last, her draw here is a
concern. Albrandino tries the blinkers and can hopefully improve. If
Limestone Mass repeats his last he has a chance again as he meets
similar.

RACE 5 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
1 / 8 / 9 / 7

● CANDICE BASS-ROBINSON (comments prior to travel) - Numbers 1 and 2
- CELSTIAL PRINCE & MASTER DESIGN : Celestial Prince tries the Poly
but he should be fine and on current form has a good chance. Master
Design also has his first Poly start and we’re just hoping he doesn’t
get run off his feet as he doesn’t have much early pace. He is weak in
Capetown, but can hopefully improve on a new surface.
● ALAN GREEFF - Number 8 - HIPPIE TRAIL : She is holding form and
always lines up with a first four shout.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 4 and 10 - BOLD CALL, NOBLE LEADER &
COURTISAN : Bold Call tries Poly for the first time. Noble Leader is
one for the back end of quartets. Courtisan has her first for the yard
and it will be a learning curve.
SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 5, 7 and 11 - WINGSOVERTHECLOUDS, AYITA &
SEATTLE BERRY : Wingsovertheclouds over raced over further last time
out. He is back in trip and we are hoping for better. Ayita ran a
great race last time out. She tries further, which we do expect her to
appreciate and is drawn well, but, she is a tiny filly forced to take
on the boys, with no fillies races for her. Seattle Berry was
disappointing last time out but she did cough post race. 1900m should
be more her game, she’s a lovely big filly who is putting up good work
so we are hoping for better from her.
TARA LAING - Numbers 6 and 9 - THE SULTANS SECRET & HITHER GREEN :
The Sultans Secret has been very disappointing, but is starting to get
closer. Hither Green is taking on the boys but she does have a place
chance.

RACE 6 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
9 / 10 / 5 / 2

● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 6 and 9 - DAMARALAND & STUDIO BLUES :
Damaraland has run some fair races and can earn. Studio Blues rarely
puts a foot wrong and though up in class must be respected.
● SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 3, 10 and 11 - JUST MY STYLE, VALENTINE’S
GIRL & SMOKEY AFFAIR : It’s a very open field. Just my Style and
Valentine’s Girl are such honest individuals and are definitely
runners here. Smokey Affair’s merit rating is dropping slowly, she
always seems to bump these tough fields.
TARA LAING - Numbers 4, 5 and 7 - RAVEN GIRL, REINE TONNERRE & MISS
MILANA : It is definitely a pity about Raven Girl’s poor draw, but she
is not without chance. Reine Tonnerre hasn’t performed over the mile
yet, but trying it on Poly, we are expecting a good run. Miss Milana
has her first for the yard, we are hoping for a good run.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 8 and 14 - ROCKSETTE & COWGIRLINTHESAND :
Rocksette ran out a hard fought win last time out , she always tries.
Cowgirlinthesand is holding form and always has a chance.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 12 - LET IT FLOW : She’s drawn out wide, but
that’s not the biggest disadvantage as she does come from off them.
She is very well, has no weight to carry for a change and even though
in a very competitive field, does have a place chance.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 2 - SAO PAULO : Good draw, good jock, loves
Poly and will appreciate the extra. Competitive field, but she is a
runner.

RACE 7 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
4 / 2 / 3 / 1

● GAVIN SMITH - Number 2 - DAWNBREAKER : He races fresh and loves the Poly.
● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3, 4 and 6 - BREAKFAST CLUB, ALDO & ALFEO :
Breakfast Club loves the Poly, though he may have appreciated a touch
further. Aldo is consistent and is a runner here. Alfeo can hopefully
improve, he hasn’t really featured out of the juveniles yet.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 7 - BORDER CONTROL : He tries the cut back in
trip, but is working very well and has a good place chance.
TARA LAING - Number 1 - MIRACLE BUREAU : He will need the run.

RACE 8 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
2 / 1 / 4 / 3

● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 2, 3 and 9 - BARGEME, DISTANT CALL,
ESPRESSIVO & QUINELIA : Bargeme won well to leave the maidens in her
last on local debut, she is up in class but can be there again.
Distant Call was unlucky in her last, the blinkers go on and she can
go one better. Espressivo is always thereabouts, she has a place
chance. Quinelia must improve.
● GRANT PADDOCK - Number 4 - JOSIE : She didn’t see the mile out
last time out and back in trip again with a good draw is a quartet
runner.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5, 7 and 10 - GREEN SEA, KEEP IT GREEN & DUBAI
QUEEN : Green Sea tries the Poly for the first time after a break.
Keep it Green tries hard, she has a place chance. Dubai Queen ran a
good last over track and trip, the wide draw is a concern.

RACE 9 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
8 / 5 / 1 / 2

● ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 4, 5, 8 and 11 - TSESSEBE, MEGA SCENE,
AL’S BELLS, LADYSMITH & POPINJAY : Tsessebe looks to be at her best on
the Poly. Mega Scene tries the blinkers, that can hopefully being
about the necessary improvement. Al’s Bells is holding form, she has a
chance. Ladysmith put up a smart local and Poly debut last time out
and has a win chance here. Popinjay has upset potential.
● GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 6 and 10 - CHINA WOLF, FANFARE & CASA DE
VAR : China Wolf ran a better last and can be thereabouts again.
Fanfare has won on both surfaces and can run into the back end of
quartets. Casa de Var enjoys track and trip and has a quartet chance.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 7 - WHO KNOWS : Better than her poor post
maiden but the bad draw is a concern.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 9 - GLENNIE : I do think she prefers the
Poly so am hoping she can get closer.
