Ghaiyyath the great: Juddmonte demolition gives superstar fourth Group 1

Ghaiyyath continued his sensational run of top-class form this season when dominating a brilliant field in the Juddmonte International under William Buick.

Following victories in the Coronation Cup and Coral-Eclipse, the 11-8 favourite jumped out into an early lead and was not for catching, putting three lengths between himself and runner-up Magical at the finish.

Lord North finished third, half a length ahead of 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko.

Winning trainer Charlie Appleby, who described the ride given to Ghaiyyath as "perfect", told ITV Racing: "I'm delighted with his performance today.

"It is an honour to have a horse like this on our hands and what a fantastic ride by William. It was a lovely race to watch, he got into a lovely rhythm and coming up the straight the others came to challenge, but I was always confident."

Buick added: "This horse can do things that most horses cannot. His high cruising speed, the way he keeps coming and at the business end he has another gear to finish the others off completely. He is high-class and he's now beaten the best around at this trip.

"He's obviously very good at a mile and a quarter but he stays a mile and a half. As long as the ground wasn't bad I think the Arc would be a very interesting target for him."

Betfair Sportsbook cut Ghaiyyath into 5-2 (from 7-2) for the Champion Stakes and into 11-2 (from 8-1) for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
