Frankel fee to remain unchanged

Juddmonte on Tuesday became the latest breeding colossus to release their stud fees for 2021, with powerhouses Frankel and Kingman remaining at £175,000 and £150,000 respectively.

Dual world champion Frankel has been represented by two individual Group 1 winners this year in Mozu Ascot, who struck in the February Stakes in Tokyo, and Mirage Dancer, successful in the Heineken Metropolitan at Randwick.

The son of Galileo, who became the fastest stallion in history to sire 40 individual Group winners, has enjoyed a noteworthy year with his two-year-olds, of whom 26 have won and eight have achieved black type.

Among his leading older European representatives this year were Ribblesdale winner and Oaks third Frankly Darling plus the top-class Call The Wind.

His progeny have continued to sell well, with Anthony Stroud paying two million and 1.1 million guineas for a half-sister to Golden Horn and a full-brother to Elarqam at Tattersalls Book 1.

Kingman's rapid ascent up the stallion ranks is not letting up, with top-class milers Persian King and Palace Pier doing the business for him this year.

The former – who now stands at Haras d'Etreham – picked up from his 2019 French Guineas success with victories in the Prix d'Ispahan and Prix du Moulin, while John Gosden's charge struck in the St James's Palace Stakes and Prix Jacques le Marois.

The son of Invincible Spirit's offspring continue to prove highly popular, with a half-brother to 2,000 Guineas scorer Galileo Gold selling for 2.7 million to Oliver St Lawrence at Tattersalls Book 1.

Oasis Dream, meanwhile, further demonstrated his prowess as a broodmare sire through Siskin winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas, Twilight Payment's triumph in the Melbourne Cup and Sir Dragonet's Cox Plate success.

The son of Green Desert – who in 2020 produced his 200th black-type performer in Erasmo – has been clipped to a fee of £20,000 for 2021, from £25,000 this year.

Breeders' Cup Mile victor Expert Eye, whose first-crop foals will sell at the upcoming auctions at Tattersalls and Goffs, is also down £5,000 to a fee of £12,500.

By Acclamation, his early arrivals have been well received this year and he is expected to attract another high-class book next season.

The consistent Bated Breath will also stand for £12,500 and enjoyed another fine year with 18 black-type performers and four Group victors, including the Aga Khan's smart Makaloun and the Stuart Williams-trained Breathtaking Look.

The son of the retired Dansili also proved highly popular at the sales – with his former top price being broken three times, including when Shadwell went to 290,000gns to secure Mountain View Stud's colt at Tattersalls Book 2.
