The racing industry mourns the loss of Brett Maselle an advocate by profession and massive fan and supporter of the racing industry.

Brett will always be remembered for standing by his convictions and his strong stance on corruption within the industry.

He was a fighter till the end, unfortunately he lost his battle with covid. 

Friend Wayne Kobusch wrote the following tribute, "It is with great sympathy that we have come to hear that Advocate Brett Maselle, has passed away today - after fighting this dreaded CV19 in ICU for the past 8 weeks.

Many in South African horse racing circles, will know him for fighting a just cause, often upholding the ethos & integrity of horse racing in South Africa.

In the latter years, he and I were well minuted at the Annual AGM’s of both the National Horse Racing Authority, as well as The Racing Association - for pushing hard for the ethos, integrity & above all else - the fiduciary obligations within the industry to be upheld.

Liked my many, as well as being the David against many Giants, he fought hard for the right reasons in our racing & breeding industry in South Africa.

In 2020 he was part of a legal team who acted on my behalf, in taking on the biggest property developer in South Africa. His astute and sound counsel will certainly leave an immortal hole in our souls.

On behalf of Alexia & I, we extend our sincere condolences to the entire Maselle family, during this very difficult time."
