HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE SATURDAY 12 JUNE SELECTIONS

1
5 DIAMOND GIRL 14 INDIGO MOON 4 TEMPLEHOFF 2 EMBARRAS DE RICHES
Preview: Evenly matched maiden field. DIAMOND GIRL (5) is lightly raced and has made steady improvement over sprints and has been fancied in the market. Pedigree suggests that the extra should suit and from a good draw can pull this off. INDIGO MOON (14) has been costly to follow but was a close-up second over course and distance last run. She has the worst of the draw. TEMPLEHOFF (4) improved nicely at only her second start. This trip should suit. EMBARRAS DE RICHES (2) finally had some luck in the running last start and can finish in the money. (Andrew Harrison: 5-14-4-2)

2
1 RALPH THE RASCAL 12 TREAD SWIFTLY 5 KAROO LARK 4 QUEPID
Preview: Tough handicap. RALPH THE RASCAL (1) has been knocking on the door for some time now. He met stronger last run and takes a small rating drop. He has a plum draw over what looks to be his optimum trip. TREAD SWIFTLY (12) has been racing tin top company of late and takes a drop in class with a 1.5kg claimer up. A wide draw is a bit of a concern. KAROO LARK (5) has finally had the penny drop although a hat-trick of wins is always difficult. QUEPID (4) is way better than her last run. She takes on males but can surprise. (Andrew Harrison: 1-12-5-4).

3
6 CAPTAIN’S RUN 5 TWICE THE TRIP 2 MISS PUTIN 9 KAILENE
Preview: CAPTAIN’S RUN (6) has been close up in feature company at recent outings. If holding form she could be the one to beat. TWICE THE TRIP (5) shed her maiden in easy fashion last run. Although the form of her penultimate start has not worked out well, she should much prefer this trip and can follow up. MISS PUTIN (2) seems way better than her last outing when starting favourite. She shed her maiden on the turf. KAILENE (9) gives weight all round but has won both local starts over this trip. (Andrew Harrison: 6-5-2-9).

4
3 COSMIC HIGHWAY 4 PARTY TIME 9 IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA 7 AJ’S CAPTAIN
Preview: Competitive field. COSMIC HIGHWAY (3) ran like he needed the run when favourite in his local debut behind Good Traveller. With that run under his girth and an extra 300m to travel, he can make amends. PARTY TIME (4) put in two smart efforts before cruising to victory last time out. He looks more than useful. IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA (9) caught the eye on debut. Jumping from the widest draw, he finished off his race in style. This trip and the experience should see him come on smartly. AJ’S CAPTAIN (7) has something of a reputation. He won his maiden well enough from a tough draw but faces a lot stronger. (Andrew Harrison: 3-4-9-7).

5
6 AFRICAN NIGHT SKY 2 TREE TAMBO 3 TRISTFUL 5 NEXUS
Preview: Tricky. AFRICAN NIGHT SKY (6) has not been the same horse that he was before injury but he showed signs of a form return last time out. He has dropped 13 pounds in the handicap and if he can win this his chances of making the VDJ field will be very much enhanced. NEXUS (5) was supplemented into the VDJ and was 13th on the July log so is assured of a gate in the big one. He has not been out since January so this should be a warm-up. TRISTFUL (3) TREE TAMBO (2) and AZORES (8) are all borderline VDJ entrants and will be going hard for victory. Tree Tambo was a winner last time out having improved in blinkers and can follow up. Tristful was unlucky in the July consolation last year. He ran well below par last start. (Andrew Harrison: 6-2-3-5)

6
5 WISTERIA WALK 11 FAVORITA 10 FREESTATE STAR 1 WYLIE WENCH
Preview: Difficult race. WISTERIA WALK (5) was not far behind last Sunday’s Golden Horse winner Battle Force in a recent handicap, giving the winner 7.5kg. She was only three lengths off Summer Pudding in the Empress Club Stakes and is over her ideal trip. FAVORITA (11) has drawn a touch wide but made a smart local debut in the Poinsetia Stakes. The extra furlong should not trouble her. FREESTATE STAR (10) does not have the best of draws but has caught the eye at her last two and should strip at her peak.WYLIE WENCH (1) has the best of the draw and has been in good form of late. She should have every chance here. (Andrew Harrison: 5-11-10-1).

7
3 RAINBOW BRIDGE 1 JET DARK 2 SEEKING THE STARS 7 BELGARION
Preview: Top class field lines up here and a few pieces of the Vodacom Durban July puzzle could fall into place. RAINBOW BRIDGE (3) fluffed his lines in last year’s VDJ but is on track to remedy that. He scorched home in the Drill Hall Stakes over 1400m, a distance seemingly short of his best and he is out to defend his Gold Challenge title here where he looks more than capable. JET DARK (1) beat Rainbow Bridge in the Queen’s Plate but has not been out since barring a Greyville gallop. This has been his Champions Season target so he should be fully primed. SEEKING THE STARS (2) set a good gallop for stable companion Linebacker in the KZN Guineas and just how he fares here will be watched with interest. BELGARION (7) has only once finished out of the money in a dozen starts and is at home over the trip. CATCH TWENTYTWO (9) was clearly second best behind Rainbow Bridge in the Drill Hall and seems unlikely to turn the tables. (Andrew Harrison: 3-1-2-7).

8
8 SPYDAS CORNER 6 SPEED MACHINE 4 CAPTAIN OUPIE 3 SLALOM QUEEN
Preview: SPYDAS CORNER (8) is in top form. Is useful and can follow up on his last two wins. SPEED MACHINE (6) has his third run after a break. He has been up against stronger of late and can go close here. CAPTAIN OUPIE (4) battled in the soft ground when returning from a lengthy break. Goes very well over course and distance and at best will be in the firing line. SLALOM QUEEN (3) takes on males but is seldom far back and has a light weight. Definite money chance. (Andrew Harrison: 8-6-4-3).

9
13 DON’T TOUCH ME 3 SIEGE RAM 8 PURPLE DOMINANCE 4 KHAN
Preview: Weak maiden. Keep an eye on the first timers. DON’T TOUCH ME (13) first run new stable. Has drawn a little wide but has shown some ability. SIEGE RAM (3) raced green on debut in soft ground. He takes on older horses but looks capable of good improvement. PURPLE DOMINANCE (8) showed some improvement when back over a sprint with blinkers. Better draw here. KHAN (4) found market support last run. Back on the turf and can feature. RADAMES (9) returns from a lengthy break. May need this run. (Andrew Harrison: 13-3-8-4)
