Leading jockey Jamie Kah has apologised after being handed a hefty suspension for breaking COVID-19 rules.

Kah, fellow star jockey Ben Melham as well as Ethan Brown and Celine Gaudray were all suspended for three months after they attended a gathering at a Mornington Airbnb on Wednesday night, breaking Victorian and racing protocols.

The quartet were also fined $5000 each by Victoria Police after they attended the property after receiving a noise complaint.

The suspension rules Kah out of the spring carnival with the star hoop not allowed to resume race riding until late November. The jockeys will be able to resume riding at trials and jump outs after their 14 day stand down period ends on September 9.

Kah took to social media on Friday to say sorry for her actions.

"I want to apologise for my recent behaviour in breaching the government and racing COVID rules," Kah wrote.

"I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed with myself

"There is no excuse for what I have done and I have let myself down, my family and friends, the racing industry and all Victorians who are doing the right thing in this lockdown.

"I deserve the penalty handed down by the stewards and will take time to reflect on my actions and its impact on so many people."
